August 1997

In August 1997, I visited France for a month. I flew in to Paris and stayed there for a couple of days. I then took the train to Nice; after a few days, I again took the train to Bordeaux, where I studied French for the rest of the month. After staying about two more days in Paris, I flew back to the United States. It was on the plane that morning that I found out that Lady Diana had been killed in a car crash the night before, just a few miles from the hotel where I was sleeping.
